A graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Ian Herring is a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist bringing over 30 years of experience in the medical and surgical management of eye disease to Vinton Veterinary Specialty Services Center.  

Services provided by Dr. Herring include diagnosis and medical management of all small animal eye disorders and surgical management of select eye conditions.  Surgical consultation for more complex eye conditions is also available (e.g. cataracts, lens luxation, intraocular tumors, corneal disease, etc), but these may require referral for surgical management. 

Dr. Herring is a longtime resident of Blacksburg, VA where he lives with his wife, Erin, a dog and a cat, their 3 children having recently flown the nest.  Outside interests include general fitness, mountain and gravel biking and playing music, currently as a drummer in a local band.
